I've got a 10x20 Apex frame that lives in the back of my pickup year-round. Salt air, road grime, vibration-it's a harsh life. The lower peak bracket J corroded and the screw seized. I had to cut the old bracket off with a Dremel. Bought Superior-part-J as a replacement and noticed immediately that the coating is different-much thicker and more textured. That should resist corrosion way better. The bracket itself is also a hair thicker in cross-section. Installed with a new stainless screw (not included, but whatever). Two months of daily driving and it still looks new. This is the part they should have used from the start.
I run a face painting booth at festivals. My 10x10 Apex frame gets set up on grass, asphalt, gravel-you name it. The original lower peak bracket developed a hairline crack that I ignored for too long. Finally ordered Superior-part-J after a near-collapse. The part arrived fast, and I was shocked at how much heavier it is than the original. They've clearly added material at the stress points. Installation was tool-free except for one screw. Now my canopy feels bombproof. If you see a crack, don't wait. This $20 part is cheaper than replacing your gear.
Tailgate season is brutal on canopy frames. My 10x15 Superior frame's lower peak bracket J snapped right before the big game. I was ready to buy a whole new tent. A buddy said "dude, just order the part." Found Superior-part-J on Eurmax, paid for two-day shipping. It arrived in time, and the install took longer to find my hex key than to actually replace the bracket. The new part has a slightly different casting-looks like they added gussets at the corners. That's an obvious durability improvement. My canopy survived the tailgate and six more since. Don't throw away your frame over a $20 part.
I'm the guy who beats his gear to death-car shows, tailgates, you name it. My 10x20 Superior frame's lower peak bracket J finally gave up after five seasons. Ordered Superior-part-J on a Tuesday, had it Thursday. The new bracket is a beefed-up design: thicker gauge metal, deeper weld penetration, and the screw bosses are reinforced. Installed it in the dark with a headlamp in 4 minutes. My canopy is now stiffer than the day I bought it. If you actually use your tent, this is the upgrade you didn't know you needed.
Three words: worth every dollar. I do about 25 events a year with my 10x20 Superior frame. The lower peak bracket J on the front left leg cracked last month. I ordered Superior-part-J and installed it during a lunch break. The bracket is clearly a revised design-the corners are radiused instead of sharp, which should reduce stress concentration. The paint is also more chip-resistant. I've put it through three events since, including one in steady rain, and it's holding up perfectly. When this part eventually wears out on my other legs, I'll replace them all with these. Five stars, no question.
